Lexus GS Weak Battery Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Lexus GS owner experienced engine starting difficulties and flickering lights, suspecting a weak battery sensor as the cause. Despite normal battery voltage when off, the voltage dropped significantly under load. Another Lexus GS owner with similar past issues suggested professional diagnostics, which confirmed a defective battery sensor. The problem was resolved with a sensor replacement at a cost of 315€.

When you had these issues, did a simple voltage test show the problem, or did it need more diagnostics? Trying to figure out if I should get more battery testing before replacing the sensor.

A simple voltage test didn't catch it, I had to go to the workshop. They confirmed it was the battery sensor. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed, could save you some guesswork.

Based on your recommendation, I took it to a workshop. They said the battery sensor was defective. The repair was 315€ including parts and labor. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

I also drive a GS and had similar issues a while back. Weak starting and flickering lights. Have you had the battery health properly tested?
