Lexus GX AC failure

I'm having a nightmare with my 2015 Lexus GX with a gasoline engine. The air conditioning has just completely given up! It's not cooling, and the system doesn't even seem to be switching on. I've checked fuses, but I'm stumped. Could it be a refrigerant leak or something more sinister? The car only has 50763 km on the clock, so I'm gutted to be having AC issues already!

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Lexus GX is experiencing a complete air conditioning failure, with the system not cooling or switching on. Initial checks of the fuses did not resolve the issue, leading to speculation about a possible refrigerant leak or a more serious problem. A suggestion was made to check the pressure switch, but ultimately, a defect in one of the AC system valves was identified as the cause. The issue was resolved by a mechanic, costing approximately 1000€.

I had a similar problem with my GX a while back. If the AC isn't even turning on, it might be the pressure switch. Have you noticed any weird noises coming from the AC compressor before it died?

Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't noticed any unusual noises at all. It just suddenly stopped working. Where is the pressure switch located? Is it something I could potentially check myself, or am I better off taking it to a mechanic?

Without AC diagnostics, it's tricky to pinpoint the pressure switch. In my case, it turned out to be a defect in one of the valves in the AC system. Cost me a small fortune to fix. I'd recommend taking it to a reputable workshop. They'll be able to diagnose the problem properly.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll book it in with a local garage and see what they say. Sounds like it could be a similar issue to what you had. I'm bracing myself for a hefty bill. The workshop confirmed it: a defect in an individual valve in the air conditioning system, just like you said! Cost me around 1000€ to fix it. Thanks again for your help!
