Lexus GX Transmission Problem

I'm having automatic transmission issues with my 2023 Lexus GX hybrid. At 41336 km, the engine sometimes won't start, especially in park, and the check engine light comes on. I've also noticed gearbox slippage and rough shifting. Diagnostics show a potential fault, and I suspect a defective control unit. Has anyone else experienced similar transmission problems with their GX?

I had similar issues with my GX, though it's not a hybrid. Engine start failure, check engine light, and transmission problems sound familiar. The parking position was the problem. Have you checked the park brake switch or the neutral position sensor? They can cause these symptoms.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you tell me more about the symptoms you had with the park brake switch and neutral position sensor? Were there any specific diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that pointed to those?

The engine would occasionally refuse to start, especially when parked on an incline, suggesting the park brake switch wasn't registering correctly. The check engine light came on too. I didn't check the error codes myself, but a shop visit revealed the issue. Given your hybrid powertrain and error codes, consult a Lexus technician for diagnostics. Control unit problems can be hard to diagnose without special equipment. Be ready for a potentially expensive repair; my transmission work cost a lot.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree about the complexity of modern systems, and I'm scheduling an appointment with a Lexus service center for a diagnostic evaluation. Your insights have helped me understand the potential problems. I'm expecting the repair to be around 1000€ - I hope this fixes it.
