Lexus IS Active Air Flap Fault

I have a 2019 Lexus IS with a gasoline engine, and it's giving me some trouble. My car has 238587 km on it. The check engine light came on, and the engine seems to be overheating. After running a scan, it seems like I have an active air flap fault. I've read that these flaps control airflow to help with engine temperature and aerodynamics, basically opening and closing like a grille shutter. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey, I drive an IS too and had something similar happen a while back. Check engine light and overheating, yeah sounds familiar. Was the fault code related to the flap motor or something?

Yes, exactly! Everything points to the electromechanism being defective. Did you end up replacing the whole assembly? What was the damage to your wallet?

Ah, I see. I didn't mess with it myself. Took it straight to a workshop. Turned out the flap motor was indeed kaput. They replaced the whole thing. Best to get it sorted before you risk more damage.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my local mechanic, and you were right; the electromechanism on the active air flap was defective. It cost me 590€ to get it fixed, parts and labor included. Appreciate the help!
