Lexus IS glow plug issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Lexus IS diesel is experiencing an issue where the preheating lamp remains on, and a fault is stored in the error memory, suggesting a defective glow plug. This problem is associated with symptoms like rough idling. The suggested solution is to have the glow plugs checked and potentially replaced at a workshop, as similar cases have been resolved by addressing the glow plugs.

Rough idle too, huh? Was it definitely the glow plugs in your case? Any idea on the repair cost?

Yeah, turned out to be the glow plugs. Best get it checked at a workshop, as diagnosing without the proper tools is a pain. My bill was around 440€, including parts and labor.

Cheers for the insight. I'll get it booked in. Seems like I'm in for glow plugs too.

Sounds familiar. I've got a Lexus IS too, though can't remember which year. Had similar symptoms a while back – engine light on, rough idle sometimes. Worth checking those glow plugs.
