Lexus IS Handsfree Microphone Failure

Lexus IS 2008 diesel, only 38516 km. The hands-free microphone has completely died. Telephony is impossible! The car throws an error, so something is clearly wrong. I've tried fiddling with the volume control, checking the wireless connection, even yelling at the speech recognition, but nothing seems to work. Is it just me, or is the ambient noise cancellation feature particularly sensitive? Bluetooth issue, maybe? Anyone else experienced this infuriating silence?

Sounds familiar. Had something similar happen in my old Volvo V70. Drove me nuts!

Was it also completely dead, or just cutting in and out?

Completely dead. Stone cold silent. Like the microphone took a vow of silence. Any thoughts?

Yep, sounds like what happened to my V70. Turned out the whole infotainment system had gone kaput. I'd get it checked out by a decent workshop if I were you. Thanks! I was hoping it wouldn't come to that. The workshop diagnosed it as a defective infotainment system, just as you suggested. Repair cost is estimated at 815€. Ouch! Still, at least I know what the problem is. Thanks for the heads-up!
