Lexus IS Hard Steering and Vibration

I'm having a weird issue with my 2000 Lexus IS with a gasoline engine. It's got about 232408 km on it. Lately, the steering has become much harder, almost like the power steering is failing intermittently. Sometimes, the steering wheel vibrates or shakes, which is quite unsettling. I've checked the power steering fluid, and it seems okay. Could it be something with the steering column or maybe some kind of automotive sensor causing this? Anyone experienced something similar?

Hey! I have a Lexus IS too, although I'm not sure about the year. I had a similar problem a while back. The vibrating steering wheel sounds familiar. Have you had any work done on the car recently, like an alignment maybe? Or any traction control lights on the dashboard?

Thanks for the reply! No, I haven't had any recent alignment work. And yes, now that you mention it, the traction control light does come on occasionally. Does that have something to do with it? What was the fix for your issue?

Yeah, the traction control light coming on could definitely be related. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty steering angle sensor. It messes with the power steering and the traction control system. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional. They can diagnose it properly.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the steering angle sensor and its coding was faulty. Cost me 195€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!
