Lexus IS Hard Steering and Vibration
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Lexus IS is experiencing hard steering and steering wheel vibration, with the power steering fluid level appearing normal. The issue may be linked to a faulty steering angle sensor, especially since the traction control light occasionally illuminates. A professional diagnosis confirmed the sensor's coding was faulty, and replacing it resolved the problem.

Thanks for the reply! No, I haven't had any recent alignment work. And yes, now that you mention it, the traction control light does come on occasionally. Does that have something to do with it? What was the fix for your issue?

Yeah, the traction control light coming on could definitely be related. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty steering angle sensor. It messes with the power steering and the traction control system. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a professional. They can diagnose it properly.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the steering angle sensor and its coding was faulty. Cost me 195€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!

Hey! I have a Lexus IS too, although I'm not sure about the year. I had a similar problem a while back. The vibrating steering wheel sounds familiar. Have you had any work done on the car recently, like an alignment maybe? Or any traction control lights on the dashboard?
