Lexus IS Intake Air Temperature Sensor Fault

Hi, I have a 2023 Lexus IS with a gasoline engine and I'm experiencing some issues. The check engine light is on, and the car feels like it's lost some power. I scanned the error memory and it shows a fault related to the intake air temperature. Plus the engine seems to run rough. Mileage is at 166376 km. Any thoughts on this IAT sensor?

Greetings! The symptoms you're describing, along with the stored error code, strongly suggest a faulty IAT sensor. When the IAT sensor malfunctions, the ECU receives incorrect air temperature data, which can lead to reduced engine power and rough running, in addition to illuminating the check engine light. Does the engine seem to run better when it is cold outside?

Thanks for the quick response! Actually, yes, it does seem to run a bit smoother on cold mornings. Is this definitely the air temperature sensor or could it be something else?

Given that the symptoms improve in cold weather and the error code points directly to it, a defective IAT sensor is the most probable culprit. While other issues can cause similar symptoms, the evidence here is quite compelling. I suggest having it checked at a workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation. Took your advice and had the IAT sensor replaced at the shop. The error is gone and the engine runs smoothly again. Total repair cost was 155€. Thanks again!
