Lexus IS Rear Sun Blind Defect

I have a 2001 Lexus IS with a gasoline engine. The rear sun blind is defective. It no longer retracts or extends fully and gets stuck. There's an error stored. I suspect the motor. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Lexus IS owner reported a defect with the rear sun blind, which would not retract or extend fully and was silent when operated. The issue was suspected to be a motor failure. It was advised to have the vehicle checked by a qualified workshop to confirm the diagnosis and avoid further complications. The workshop confirmed the motor was defective, and after repair, the sun blind was functioning properly again.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sorry to hear about the issue with your sun blind. Frustrating. Does the sunshade make any noise when you try to operate it, or is it completely silent?

It's silent, no noise at all when pressing the button. Is there a common failure point I should investigate before replacing the entire unit?

Ah, okay. If there is no noise, it strongly suggests the motor has failed. Given the complexity and the electrical components, I would recommend taking it to a qualified workshop for diagnosis and repair to avoid any further complications.

Thank you for the advice. I took it to a workshop as suggested, and indeed, the motor was defective. The repair cost was 330€. It's now working again.
