Thanks for the quick reply! I suspected the sensor as well. How did you confirm it? And what were the exact symptoms you experienced before you diagnosed the issue?

I didn't confirm it myself, to be honest. I took it to a workshop. They ran some diagnostics and pinpointed the sensor pretty quickly. Replacing it sorted out all the issues, the smell vanished and the car ran like new again. Best to get it checked professionally, especially with emission control stuff.

Understood, thanks! I'll book it in for diagnostics. Appreciate the insight; sounds like the sensor is the most likely culprit. I will ask the workshop to check the sensor. It was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor. Repair cost 245€. Runs like a charm now!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my IS a while back. Reduced power and the smell were the worst. Have you checked the exhaust back pressure sensor? That was the culprit in my case. Was yours also struggling with DPF regeneration?
