Lexus IS Seat Heater Failure

I'm getting seriously frustrated with my 2012 Lexus IS diesel. The seat heater has completely given up! I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. The seat heating doesn't get warm at all, and there's an error stored in the memory when I hooked it up to a diagnostic tool. I'm thinking it's probably the seat heating mat itself that's gone bad. Has anyone else run into this with the thermal sensor or heating repair on their Lexus IS seat cushion? Any ideas before I tear the whole temperature control system apart?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Lexus IS diesel has a seat heater that has stopped functioning, despite the fuses being intact. A diagnostic tool revealed an error, leading to the suspicion that the seat heating mat might be faulty. Another individual with a similar issue confirmed that the heating mat was the problem, suggesting that replacing it might be necessary.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my IS. Sounds like the heating mat to me too.

Thanks for the reply! Was your experience identical to mine (no heat, error code)? How did you confirm it was the mat, and did you try any other troubleshooting steps before replacing it?

Yep, same symptoms. I didn't bother with extra checks, just went straight to the shop. Turned out the heating mat was indeed defective.

Appreciate the confirmation! Sounds like it's definitely heading to the workshop then. Just got the estimate – 390€ for the heating repair. Ouch!
