Lexus LC Active Hood Fault

I've got a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2018 Lexus LC with a gasoline engine. I'm getting an "Active Hood Fault" message popping up on the display. Along with that, the airbag warning light is now illuminated in the speedometer. I've scanned the car, and there's definitely an error stored. Strangely enough, it seems like the spring actuators have been triggered. Could a defective acceleration sensor really cause all this chaos?

Wow, that sounds concerning! I have a Lexus LC myself, and while I haven't experienced the active hood fault specifically, I did have some weird electrical gremlins pop up a while back. Airbag lights are never a good sign, raising questions about overall car safety. The spring actuators deploying is quite extreme, do you remember if anything hit the car?

That's interesting you mention electrical issues. No, I don't recall any impacts. The mileage is at 57211 km. Could mileage have anything to do with a faulty sensor? What kind of electrical issues did you face, and did they involve the safety systems at all?

My issue was related to the infotainment system, so not directly safety-related like yours. Given that your actuators have deployed along with the airbag warning, I'd strongly advise getting it checked by a qualified technician as soon as possible. It really does sound like a system fault, and it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to car safety.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate the cautious approach. Turns out you were right! I took it to the workshop, and after diagnostics, it was indeed a defective acceleration sensor. They replaced it, cleared the codes, and everything seems to be back to normal. Total cost was around 315€. Hopefully, this helps anyone else experiencing a similar issue!
