Lexus LC Check Engine Light and Smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Lexus LC with a gasoline engine is experiencing a check engine light, diminished power, and smoke upon acceleration at 248,477 km. Diagnostics suggest a malfunctioning crankcase ventilation valve as the cause. Similar symptoms in another vehicle were linked to a crankcase leak, affecting emissions and idle. Replacing the crankcase ventilation valve is recommended to prevent further issues.

Indeed, the idle does seem somewhat erratic. Emissions, you say? Could you elaborate on what parameters were out of spec in your case?

In my Volvo, the HC (hydrocarbon) levels were elevated, indicating incomplete combustion. Given your symptoms and mileage, and my past experience, a defective crankcase ventilation seems highly probable. I'd recommend having a workshop confirm it, as ignoring a crankcase leak can cause further problems.

I appreciate your insight. Based on your experience and the diagnostics, I authorized the crankcase ventilation valve replacement. The total damage amounts to 360€. Thank you for steering me in the right direction.

Interesting. I had comparable issues with my old Volvo V70. Engine light, rough idle, and some smoke. Turned out to be a crankcase leak. Is your idle also affected? Might be worth checking your emissions too.
