Lexus LC Hybrid EGR Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Lexus LC hybrid was experiencing issues such as a check engine light, reduced engine power, smoke during acceleration, rough running, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggested a potential problem with the vehicle's emissions system, specifically the EGR valve. The EGR valve was suspected to be defective, possibly due to carbon buildup, which was confirmed by a professional inspection. Replacing the EGR valve resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's performance.

An EGR valve, huh? I suspected it might be something like that. And yes, it's definitely worse when the engine is cold. What exactly was the problem with your Volvo, and how did you figure it out?

With my Volvo, the EGR valve was completely jammed shut with carbon buildup, preventing proper recirculation. Think of it like a clogged artery for your engine. I initially suspected it because of the symptoms and a bit of research. I'd suggest getting yours checked out by a professional, especially since it's a hybrid system – they'll be able to pinpoint the issue for sure.

Thanks! I took your advice and went to a workshop. Turns out the EGR valve was indeed defective and needed replacing. Cost me 355€, but it's running smoothly now. I really appreciate your help!

Sounds like you might have a defective EGR valve. I had similar issues with my old Volvo V70 – the check engine light, rough idle, and even the smoke. It's like the car is choking on its own fumes! Does it seem worse when the engine is cold?
