Lexus LC transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Lexus LC hybrid with 73,000 km was experiencing unusual shifting behavior and transmission indicator light issues, sometimes entering emergency mode. The suspected cause was worn-out transmission oil. However, it was suggested that undervoltage from a weak battery could be the culprit, affecting the transmission control unit. After replacing the battery, the transmission issues were resolved, confirming the undervoltage diagnosis.

Undervoltage, huh? That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought of that. So, you're saying a low battery could actually cause the transmission to act up like that? What kind of symptoms did your BMW show?

Yep. Low voltage can mess with the transmission control unit. My BMW was going into limp mode intermittently. Get your battery checked first. If it's good, then you might have a bigger problem. Otherwise, head to the workshop and have them check the oil. Fluid change itself isn't too expensive, around 240€ for me.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It turned out to be undervoltage causing the transmission issues. Replaced the battery, and now it's shifting smoothly again. The repair ended up costing exactly 240€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 5 series. Check for undervoltage in the vehicle. Weak battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins with modern transmissions. Was the BMW also a hybrid?
