Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't check the controller. Where is it usually located, and how can I test it?

On my Lexus, it's situated near the blower motor, often behind the glove box. Without proper equipment, it's difficult to test. Given your symptoms and the error code, it is better to get it inspected by someone more specialised. A defective blower motor can damage the controller, so replacing only the motor might lead to repeated failures.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on! It was indeed the blower motor, and the technician confirmed it had damaged the fan speed controller as well. Repair cost 365€ including new parts and labour. Thanks a bunch for your help!

I have a Lexus (not an LFA, but a similar HVAC system) and experienced something related. Does the fan speed controller work at all? If it doesn't, the issue might not be just the blower motor but also the fan speed controller. The controller regulates the voltage supplied to the blower motor, thus controlling its speed. Have you checked that too?
