Lexus LS Charge Air Temperature Sensor Issue

I've got a 2023 Lexus LS with a gasoline engine and I'm getting a check engine light along with reduced engine power. I've noticed a whistling noise, almost like a loud hissing, when accelerating. I scanned the error memory and it's showing an issue with the charge air temperature sensor. The car has about 102464 km on it. Anyone experienced this before? Could a defective cable or plug connection really be the culprit?

Whoa, sounds rough! A charge air temp sensor issue can definitely mess with your engine's performance. Since you mentioned whistling and hissing, have you checked the air intake system for any leaks or loose connections? Sometimes a small crack in a hose can throw off the sensor readings and cause those symptoms.

Thanks for the quick reply! I took a look at the air intake, but didn't spot anything obvious. Where exactly should I be focusing my attention? I'm not sure I know where the sensor is located.

Okay, so if you're not seeing anything obvious with the intake, and you've got that sensor error code, it's probably best not to mess with it too much more. Those sensors can be pretty sensitive. A shop can diagnose the exact cable/plug issue quickly. Plus, messing with the wrong thing might make it worse.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a trusted mechanic, and you were right – it was a faulty connection to the charge air temperature sensor. Replaced the connector, and the error is gone. Total cost was 95€.
