Lexus LS Engine Problems

Afternoon. I'm experiencing an issue with my 2010 Lexus LS hybrid. At 234295 km, it's been reliable, but lately, the engine sometimes refuses to start. Other times, it shuts off unexpectedly while driving, or runs really rough for a while. I've checked the battery and starter motor connections and reviewed the wiring diagrams, but I haven't tested the fuses. Any ideas where to look next? It feels like a short somewhere.

Sounds like a dodgy ignition switch. Does the key feel normal when you turn it, or is it loose? Have you considered a failing immobilizer? If it was the hybrid system, there would be a different set of warnings.

The key feels normal, no different than usual. The immobilizer is an interesting thought. I haven't seen any warning lights to suggest that's the problem. If the ignition switch itself is failing, would a defective fuse somewhere cause that?

A bad ignition switch can act like a fuse issue, causing intermittent power loss. It's difficult to diagnose without proper testing. It could be the source of your troubles. I'd advise a workshop visit.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. You were spot on - the ignition switch was faulty due to a defective fuse. 52€ later and it's running like new!
