Lexus LS hybrid exhaust smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Lexus LS hybrid owner experienced a warning light on the speedometer and smoke during acceleration, suspecting an exhaust back pressure sensor malfunction. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by diagnosing a defective pressure sensor in the exhaust system. The Lexus owner confirmed the problem was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor, which was repaired at a cost of 245€.

An emission control problem, really? What exactly was the issue with your Volvo? And how did you figure it out?

Turned out the pressure sensor in the exhaust system was defective. Caused all sorts of problems with the vehicle emissions. Best get it checked at a workshop, they will be able to diagnose it.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a shop, and you were right - it was the exhaust back pressure sensor. Cost me 245€ to repair. Much appreciated!

That sounds like a real headache. I had a similar problem with my old Volvo C70. Warning light plus weird exhaust issues. Have you scanned for error codes? Mine pointed to an emission control problem.
