Lexus LS Lighting Fault

I'm having a weird electrical issue with my 2021 Lexus LS hybrid. It's got about 94,000 km on it. Basically, there's a fault in the lighting – the lights sometimes switch on randomly, and the car keeps logging an error. I suspect it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Lexus LS hybrid experienced a lighting fault where the lights would switch on randomly, and an error was logged. The issue was suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection. A similar problem in another vehicle was traced to a corroded connector in the lighting circuit. After taking the Lexus to a workshop, it was confirmed that a corroded connector related to the light switch was the cause, and the issue was resolved.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello! I had a somewhat similar experience with my previous car, a 2018 Opel Insignia. It had a similar electrical gremlin related to a faulty automotive switch which caused erratic lighting behavior. In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector in the lighting circuit that caused all sorts of issues. Did you check the car switch itself to check for continuity or any damage?

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the continuity. Where exactly was this corroded connector located in your Opel? Was it near the light switch itself, or somewhere else in the car lighting circuit?

In my Opel, it was behind the dashboard, near the fuse box. But given that your Lexus is a newer model, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. The technician will need to use diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact location of the fault in the lighting. It's likely a similar issue with a defective cable or plug connection of the car switch.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to the workshop, and you were right – it was indeed a corroded connector related to the light switch. The repair cost me about 95€. All good now!
