Lexus LS uneven running issue

My 2007 Lexus LS hybrid is running unevenly at 241801 km. The check engine light is on with a stored fault, and I'm experiencing jerking during acceleration. Could a fuel pump or a dirty air filter cause this, or is it more likely an engine misfire or even the crankshaft sensor?

Such symptoms are not uncommon. Before exploring more complex causes, inspect your exhaust system for any potential leaks.

An exhaust leak sounds plausible. Could a small leak really cause the engine to run so rough and trigger the check engine light?

Indeed. Even a minor leak can disrupt the system's pressure and sensor readings, leading to the issues you've described. I suggest visiting a workshop to have it checked.

Thank you for the advice. It turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system, just as you suspected. Repair cost me 265€. Now it runs smoothly.
