Hey there, cheers for the quick reply! That sounds rough, but glad to hear you got it sorted out eventually. Just checked up my records - it's a 1VD-FTV engine. Haven't had a recent service, last one was around 191908 km. Hoping it's nothing too serious, fingers crossed!

Hello again! Ah, the 1VD-FTV engine, that makes sense now. Our engine models are a bit different but I think some problems are just stubborn and universal, right? My swirl flap malfunction was remarkably similar to your case. Hissing sounds, shaky idling, and the pesky check engine light were all too familiar. It sure put me on the edge but thankfully, it wasn't as bad as I initially feared. Your symptoms sound quite serious but then again, my experience proves that it may just be a swirl flap issue. I'd suggest having a professional take a look though - these engines are complex and it's best not to take chances. Hope you get it sorted without a fuss! Let us know what you find out. You're not alone in this!

Hey! I’ve had a similar issue pop up on my 2014 Lexus GX a couple of years back. I only have some experience with car troubles, but my swirl flap also broke. The symptoms were much like the ones you're describing. I worked with a local workshop I trust, and they ended up having to replace the swirl flap as fixing it was out of the question. After spending approximately 865 Euro, the problem was finally sorted. However, just to be completely sure, could you share a little more info? Do you know the specific engine model? It could be helpful in narrowing down the scope of the problem.
