Lexus LX Headlight Washer Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Lexus LX owner reported an issue where both the headlight and windshield washer systems stopped working. After checking the fuses, which were fine, the problem was suspected to be either a faulty pump or a relay issue. Another owner suggested checking for corroded terminals or loose wires, as a bad connection to the pump could be the cause. The issue was resolved by repairing a defective cable connection on the pump relay.

Thanks for the tip! When you say bad connection, are we talking corroded terminals, or a loose wire? And where exactly is the pump located? I'm not the most mechanically inclined, but I'm willing to take a look myself before heading to a shop. Was it easy to get to? Any tricks I should know?

Yeah, mine was corroded terminals, pretty nasty looking. It was causing all sorts of weirdness. And yes, that stopped the headlight washers too because they share the same reservoir/pump, I think. Honestly, if you're not super comfortable with it, might be worth getting it checked by a pro. The connections can be a pain to get to, depending on how things are situated, and you don't want to accidentally mess anything else up.

Thanks a lot! You were spot on! I took it to a local shop and they found a defective cable connection on the pump relay, just as we suspected. Repair cost me 165€. Appreciate the help!

Hey there! I have a Lexus LX too, though I am not sure about the build year. I had something similar happen a while back. If I remember correctly, it turned out to be a bad connection to the pump. Have you checked the cable connections thoroughly? Is there any sign of a leak near the pump itself? Might be worth a look before diving deeper.
