Lexus LX Outside Temperature Sensor Issue

Thanks for the quick reply! So, it definitely sounds like the temperature sensor then. Is there anything I can check myself before taking it to a workshop? Is it easy to get to, or am I better off just letting the pros handle it?

Given the interconnectedness of these systems, and the error code stored, it is highly probable the sensor is the root cause. While you could inspect the wiring harness and plug connection for obvious damage or corrosion, accessing the sensor and properly diagnosing the issue often requires specialized tools and knowledge. A diagnostic scan can confirm the sensor fault. Repair typically involves sensor replacement and clearing of any stored fault codes. Given the cost of a replacement is relatively low, a workshop visit may be best.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! It was indeed the outside temperature sensor, and they replaced it for 95€. Everything is working perfectly now. Appreciate the help!

The symptoms you describe are consistent with a malfunctioning outside temperature sensor. A defective cable or plug connection is a likely cause. The sensor provides temperature data to several vehicle systems, including the HVAC, washer system, and mirror heating. When the sensor fails, these systems may not operate correctly.
