Lexus LX Overheating Issue

I'm having some trouble with my 2012 Lexus LX diesel. Recently, the engine has been overheating, and the check engine light keeps coming on. It has about 150k km on the clock. I checked the coolant level, and it seems fine. I also visually inspected the radiator, and I can't see any obvious leaks. Could a defective radiator fan cause these symptoms? Any thoughts?

Yeah, those symptoms definitely point towards a cooling issue. A faulty radiator fan is a prime suspect. Does the fan spin freely when the engine is off? Also, have you noticed if the fan ever kicks on at all, even when the engine is hot?

Thanks for the quick reply! I checked, and the fan spins freely by hand when the engine is off. However, I haven't actually seen it running at all, even when the temperature gauge is creeping towards the red zone. If the fan motor seems ok, could a faulty speed sensor also cause those issues?

A speed sensor issue causing the fan not to run and leading to overheating is quite possible. Without the correct signal from the sensor, the fan won't know when to kick on. I'd probably suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. They can diagnose the sensor properly and see if that's the root cause.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed the speed sensor. They replaced it, and the fan is now working perfectly. The total repair cost was around 250€. I really appreciate your insights!
