Lexus LX Stalling at Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Lexus LX is experiencing stalling issues at idle, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause is a faulty tank ventilation valve or clogged hoses, indicated by a noticeable smell. Suggestions include checking the EVAP system, particularly around the gas cap and purge valve, especially if the problem worsens after refueling. The issue was resolved by replacing a faulty and clogged ventilation hose and valve, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks! Worse how? You mean like right after refueling, it's more likely to stall?

Yeah, exactly. If it is that, I took it to a shop as the emmission system is complicated. The repair bill wasn't too bad to be fair.

Appreciate the insight, I'll check those areas and probably throw in the towel and take it to a local mechanic. Turns out a ventilation hose was indeed faulty and clogged. Replaced it along with the valve. Total cost: 175€. Runs like a dream now. Thanks again!

I had something similar on my LX. Check the EVAP system, especially around the gas cap and purge valve. Is it worse after you fill up?
