Lexus LX transmission parking issue

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2013 Lexus LX diesel. It has 20747 km. The automatic transmission seems to have a defective parking position. The engine refuses to start, and the check engine light is on. I've also noticed the gearbox slipping and shifting uncleanly. The error memory stores an error related to this. I suspect a defective control unit. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? The estimated repair cost is around 1000€.

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my LX, though I've got a newer one. Mine wouldn't always go into park properly, and the dash lit up. Did you try checking the transmission sensor?

Thanks for the quick response! Could you elaborate on which sensor you're referring to and where it's located? Any specific diagnostic steps you took before replacing any parts?

Honestly, I'm not super technical. I just knew it was related to the transmission because the errors pointed that way. I took it straight to a workshop, and they sorted it out pretty quickly. It might be worth doing the same; these modern transmissions are complex.

Appreciate the advice! I'll take it to a trusted workshop for a thorough diagnosis. It turns out, the control unit for the automatic transmission was indeed faulty. Replacing it, as initially suspected, resolved the issue. Thanks again!
