Lexus LX water sensor malfunction

Hi, I have a 2019 Lexus LX with a diesel engine and I'm experiencing a strange issue. The check engine light keeps coming on, and the error memory shows a water sensor malfunction. I've also noticed the engine running a bit rough. Could a defective cable or plug connection of the component cause these problems?

Could be. Are you sure the sensor itself isn't faulty? Did you check the cable and plug for corrosion or damage? A bad connection can definitely throw off sensor readings and cause those symptoms. But a failing sensor shows similar symptoms as well, doesn't it?

I haven't tested the sensor itself yet. How would I go about testing the water sensor to rule that out? Where can I find reliable instructions for car diagnostics?

I don't have the exact instructions for your specific sensor. However, given the symptoms and the error code, and if you're not comfortable testing it yourself, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the sensor and wiring.
