The alarm doesn't go off randomly, it just doesn't work at all. I thought it was the security alarm, so I disarmed and rearmed it. Still nothing. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the immobilizer. I don't think we've had a power failure, but I can't be 100% sure. What happened with your Megane?

Ah, okay. With the Megane, the issue was some weird coding thing related to the optical locking – basically, the indicators. The workshop told me the alarm system was coded to activate them, and that was causing the problem. Best to get it checked by a pro.

Thanks for the tip! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the alarm system was coded to activate the optical locking. They recoded it, and it's fixed! Cost me 45€, but peace of mind is priceless. Cheers!

Hey, that sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Different car, I know, but the symptoms were similar. What happens exactly? Does the alarm go off randomly, or does it just not work at all? Did you have a power failure recently?
