Lexus NX Fuel Pump Cable Issue

Thanks. I haven't checked the fuel pressure at the fuel rail yet. How involved is that, and can a car mechanics novice do it, or should I get a professional diagnosis?

Checking fuel pressure needs a specialized gauge and some knowledge of your fuel system. You connect the gauge to a test port on the fuel rail and read the pressure while the engine is running or trying to start. Given the potential for fuel spillage and the need for specialized equipment, I'd recommend a workshop. Especially with error codes indicating fuel pump issues, the repair cost is probably lower than you expect. The cable or plug is often the problem.

I appreciate the advice. I took the Lexus to a local shop, and it was a defective cable connection to the fuel pump, as suspected. The repair cost was only 95€. Thanks for your help.

A faulty fuel pump can cause those symptoms. The engine not starting and stalling, along with the check engine light and rough running, all point that way. Higher fuel consumption can also result from a malfunctioning fuel pump not delivering fuel efficiently. Have you checked the fuel pressure at the fuel rail? Low pressure would confirm pump failure. Also, inspect the fuel injectors.
