Lexus NX Heavy Steering Vibration

I've got a 2019 Lexus NX with a gasoline engine and about 200k km on the clock. Recently, the steering has become noticeably heavier, almost like the power steering is failing intermittently. The steering wheel also vibrates, especially at lower speeds. Could this be related to a faulty steering angle sensor? I've heard that incorrect coding can cause this, anyone else experienced this?

Interesting issue. Could be a few things, but a steering angle sensor issue is plausible given the symptoms. Has the car had any wheel alignment work recently? Or, has the car been involved in an accident?

No recent alignment work, and no accidents. So, if it is the steering angle sensor, what exactly is the fix? Just a replacement, or is there some sort of recalibration or coding involved?

If it is the steering angle sensor, replacement is often necessary. Recalibration and coding are absolutely critical after replacement. Without proper coding, it can cause the issues you're experiencing. Best bet is to get it diagnosed professionally at a trusted workshop.

Thanks for the insights! Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Faulty steering angle sensor due to coding. Replacement and recalibration sorted it for 195€. Steering is now smooth as butter.
