Lexus NX Overvoltage Errors

I'm having a nightmare with my 2021 Lexus NX (gasoline engine). I'm getting constant overvoltage errors and loads of systems are failing. The car's only done 40486 km! I've got many fault memory entries relating to overvoltage. This has caused a failure of various systems, and I even get a weak battery when starting the engine now, with a general electrical malfunction. Could the battery itself be the problem?

Sounds rough. I've got an NX too. Had a similar problem a while back, though not exactly the same. Were there any other unusual symptoms, like flickering lights or the infotainment system acting up? Also, have you checked the alternator? Overvoltage usually points to a problem with the voltage regulator inside it.

Thanks for the quick reply! No flickering lights that I've noticed, but the infotainment system has been acting a bit strange, freezing occasionally. I haven't checked the alternator yet, as I am a novice. Where is the voltage regulator exactly? Is it easy to test and replace?

Okay, the infotainment thing is interesting. It could all be related to the voltage issue. The voltage regulator is usually built into the alternator itself. Honestly, messing with the alternator can be tricky and you might need special tools and understanding of electrical components. Given the overvoltage situation, and the fact that many systems are failing I'd recommend taking it to a professional to avoid causing more damage. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to car electronics, especially with modern vehicles and the ECU.

You're right, I think I'll book it into a Lexus specialist. Taking your advice on board, it sounds too risky to mess with myself. Thanks for the advice! It turned out it was the battery, which was heavily discharged or defective. It was replaced and cost 290€. Everything seems to be fine now.
