Lexus NX warning light and oil pressure

I've got a 2021 Lexus NX gasoline with 139937 km. A warning light is on, and there's an error stored. The oil pressure lamp also lights up sometimes. I think it might be the engine oil temperature sensor, maybe a bad cable or plug. Anyone else seen this?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Lexus NX is experiencing a warning light and intermittent oil pressure lamp, possibly due to a faulty engine oil temperature sensor or a bad cable or plug connection. The issue might be related to a defective connection to the temperature sensor, as suggested by another owner with a similar experience. It is recommended to have a qualified technician inspect the wiring harness and sensor connection before considering sensor replacement.

Interesting. I drive an NX as well, and while the build year is different, your description sounds very familiar. The warning light and oil pressure lamp are definitely concerning. When you say "error stored in the error memory," can you provide the specific error code? That might help narrow down if it's the temp sensor itself or, as you suspect, the wiring. Did the oil pressure light come on before or after the temp warning?

I don't have the error code right now. I read it, but didn't save it. The oil pressure light comes on sometimes before, sometimes after the temperature warning. Could the oil pressure light also mean a defective cable or plug connection?

Given the intermittent nature and the potential wiring issue you suspect, and based on my own experience, it really does sound like a faulty connection to the temp sensor. I'd strongly suggest having a qualified technician inspect the wiring harness and sensor connection before replacing the sensor itself. In my case, the repair shop found a corroded connector. I went to the workshop and they replaced the sensor, and that fixed it. If the connection checks out, then replacing the sensor is the next step.

Thanks for the advice and sharing your experience. It confirms my suspicion about the cable or plug connection. I'm scheduling an appointment with a workshop to have the wiring harness and sensor connection inspected. The workshop confirmed the defective cable or plug connection. The repair cost will be 95€.
