Lexus NX Washer Fluid Warning

Hi, I have a 2018 Lexus NX with a gasoline engine and I'm getting a weird warning light on the dashboard. It's the low washer fluid indicator, but the windshield washer system doesn't work at all. The car says there's an error stored. I checked the fluid level and it was low, so I filled it up, but the warning light is still on and the system still isn't working. Any ideas?

Greetings. I experienced a similar issue with my 2016 Opel Astra. The 'low washer fluid' warning persisted despite a full reservoir. The system malfunctioned entirely; the spray jets produced no fluid. In my case, the underlying cause was the wiper water level being too low at some point, which seems to have triggered a persistent error. Have you attempted to clear the error memory using an OBD-II scanner, or disconnected the battery for a brief period to reset the system?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't tried clearing the error memory myself. I don't have an OBD-II scanner. Disconnecting the battery sounds a bit risky, as I'm not sure what else that might affect. So, if I understand correctly, even after refilling, the system might still not work, and you'd recommend getting the error cleared?

Affirmative. In my specific instance with the Opel Astra, the error proved recalcitrant and required professional intervention. While I am hesitant to provide definitive diagnostic conclusions absent a physical inspection of your Lexus NX, the confluence of symptoms – the persistent warning light and the inoperative windshield washer system, subsequent to the replenishment of the fluid reservoir – strongly suggests the plausibility of a similar underlying etiology. It is my considered recommendation that you avail yourself of the diagnostic services of a qualified automotive technician. A diagnostic assessment conducted within a reputable workshop will furnish you with a precise determination of the prevailing fault codes and facilitate the implementation of appropriate remedial measures.

I took it to the workshop. Turns out it was just a persistent error code after the fluid ran completely dry at some point. They cleared the code, and the washer system is working perfectly again. The entire repair cost me 25€ Thanks for the advice!
