Lexus RC Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Issue

My 2020 Lexus RC with a gasoline engine is throwing a fit. Warning light's on, and it's puffing smoke like a chimney when I accelerate. Mileage is at 175572 km. I'm pretty sure it's the exhaust back pressure sensor. This thing's got more sensors than a sci-fi movie!

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Lexus RC with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues, including a warning light and smoke during acceleration, likely due to a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. This sensor is crucial for managing vehicle emissions and can affect engine performance, causing sluggishness. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem, restoring the car's performance.

That sounds frustrating! A faulty sensor can really mess with your vehicle emissions. Have you noticed any change in fuel efficiency or engine performance besides the smoke?

Fuel efficiency seems normal, but it feels sluggish. Could a bad sensor cause that too? I thought sensors just caused lights to come on, not impact performance!

Yes, a defective exhaust back pressure sensor can impact engine performance. The car's computer uses that sensor to manage vehicle emissions. I think you should visit a workshop.

Thanks! It was the exhaust back pressure sensor, like I suspected. Cost me 245€ to replace. Runs like new. Emission control is important but expensive!
