Lexus RC Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue

I own a 2022 Lexus RC with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on. I've noticed reduced engine power and rough running. Diagnostics showed an error pointing to a potentially faulty intake air temperature sensor. The car has 241954 km on it. Any ideas?

The issue was characterized by fluctuating temperature readings and implausible sensor values. A similar past experience suggested that replacing the sensor could resolve the problem. Following this advice, the sensor was replaced, resulting in the resolution of the issue and the engine running smoothly again.

Interesting. I have an RC as well, and this sounds awfully familiar! When my air sensor started acting up, it threw me for a loop. Is the temperature reading on your dash acting erratically? What are the diagnostics saying about the intake air temperature sensor's readings?

Thanks for your reply. The temperature reading fluctuates quite a bit. The diagnostics indicate implausible values from the intake air temperature sensor. Could you explain the issues you experienced with your RC's air sensor?

Ah, implausible values, you say? That's exactly what I had! The engine was stumbling and the fuel economy went down the drain. If the diagnostics are pointing to the air sensor, and you're seeing those symptoms, it's highly probable that the sensor is the culprit. I ended up taking mine to a trusted workshop, they replaced the sensor and the issue vanished. Given what you're describing, I think a professional assessment is warranted.

I appreciate your detailed explanation and advice. I took your suggestion and had the intake air temperature sensor replaced at a workshop. The error is now gone, and the engine runs smoothly again. The repair cost me 155€. Thanks again for your assistance!
