Lexus RC Knock Sensor Issue

I have a 2023 Lexus RC with a hybrid engine. The check engine light is on, fuel consumption is higher than usual, and the engine idles unevenly. After some diagnostics, it appears the knock sensor is defective. I suspect the cable or plug connection of the component is faulty. Has anyone experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Lexus RC with a hybrid engine is experiencing a check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and uneven idling, suspected to be due to a defective knock sensor. The initial suspicion is a faulty cable or plug connection. A similar case revealed that the issue was indeed a faulty knock sensor connection, which was resolved by professional inspection and repair. It is advised to have a workshop thoroughly inspect the knock sensor connection to confirm and resolve the issue.

I had a similar issue with my Lexus RC. The symptoms sound very familiar. In my case, the check engine light was intermittent, and I also noticed a drop in fuel efficiency. Did you check the sensor's wiring for any signs of damage or corrosion?

Yes, I inspected the wiring as best as I could. I didn't see any obvious damage, but it's difficult to get a good look at the entire length of the cable without removing other components. Was your problem definitely the knock sensor connection?

Yes, after further investigation by a professional, it turned out to be the knock sensor connection. While there was no visible damage initially, the connection was indeed faulty. Considering the cost of the sensor itself versus the connection repair (about 95€ in my case), it’s worth having a workshop take a closer look to confirm.

Thank you for the information. I will take your advice and schedule an appointment with a workshop to have the knock sensor connection thoroughly inspected. Hopefully, that will resolve the issue.
