Lexus RX ABS Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault

ABS lamp illuminates on my 2018 Lexus RX with a gasoline engine, and the ABS system appears to be non-operational. A scan reveals an error pertaining to the lateral acceleration sensor. Could a defective control unit be the culprit, and has anyone experienced similar electronic stability control issues?

I had something similar with my RX. ABS light, system failure, the whole shebang. Did you run a diagnostic scan yourself, or did a shop do it? Was there anything else showing up, like steering angle or yaw rate weirdness?

The scan was performed at an independent service center. The report did mention potential issues with the electronic control module. Is it possible that a faulty sensor is triggering the control unit error? The mileage is already at 194581 km, could it be wear and tear?

Based on what I went through, and the scan results you're seeing, it really does sound like that control unit is the problem. I know it's not what you want to hear, but I'd recommend getting a quote from a workshop to replace it. I'd be surprised if a sensor is causing the issue.

I appreciate your insight. It seems a workshop visit is inevitable. They quoted around 1000€ for the repair, which includes a new control unit. Hopefully, this resolves the lateral acceleration sensor fault and restores the ABS functionality. Many thanks for your guidance!
