Lexus RX Brake Pedal Feedback
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Lexus RX was experiencing strange feedback from the brake pedal, suspected to be caused by an undervoltage issue leading to premature wear. However, the problem was more likely related to mechanical wear or hydraulic brake issues, as suggested by another owner with similar experiences. After a workshop inspection, it was confirmed that the brake rotors and shoes were worn out, and their replacement resolved the feedback issue.

Rotors were inspected, but not replaced. The squeaking is intermittent. Could under-voltage really accelerate the brake shoes wear that fast?

While under-voltage could contribute, the symptoms point more directly to mechanical wear or hydraulic brakes issues. Given the age and mileage, a thorough inspection at a trusted shop might be worthwhile. I’d experienced rapid wear with similar symptoms before a full replacement.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Took it to a workshop. Indeed, brake rotors and shoes worn out. Replacement set me back 240€, but the feedback is now gone.

I also have a Lexus RX. I had something similar a while back. It turned out to be related to the brake rotors causing vibration feedback. Were your brake rotors checked during your last service? Squeaky brakes?
