Lexus RX Electric Steering Column Problem

I have an RX too, and I had something similar happen. Check the connections under the steering wheel. It could be a simple fix, like a loose plug.

I'm not super familiar with the electrical components, but when my steering column acted up, I took it to the workshop. They found a bad connection. It's probably best to get it checked out by a professional.
