Lexus RX Exhaust Temperature Sensor Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2009 Lexus RX hybrid. The check engine light comes on and off, engine power is down, and fuel consumption is up. Scans say it's the exhaust temperature sensor. I think there might be an exhaust leak. The car has 194553 km.

Hey, I have a Lexus RX too. I had similar symptoms – check engine light, sluggish performance. Check all the exhaust connections for leaks before replacing the sensor. A small crack can throw off the readings.

Thanks. Where are these exhaust connections, and what should I look for? Also, was the repair expensive?

I'm not sure about the exact locations, I'm not a mechanic. A mechanic told me to check for anything obvious like rust or damage. I took mine to a workshop. It's probably best to get it checked by a professional.

I took it to a workshop. They found a small crack in the exhaust manifold, which caused the wrong temperature readings. Replacing the manifold and the sensor fixed it. It cost 265€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
