Lexus RX Fuel Consumption Issue

Hi, I own a 2008 Lexus RX with a gasoline engine. Lately, I've noticed my fuel consumption is way higher than usual, and sometimes it's a struggle to start the car. I've checked the air intake, and it seems fine. Could a defective throttle valve be the cause?

Hey! I have a Lexus RX too, and what you describe sounds familiar. My higher fuel consumption and poor starting were due to a defective accelerator pedal module. Have you checked the throttle position sensor? It's like the brain telling the engine how much power to deliver. If that's faulty, it can cause all sorts of issues. Does the car idle rough, too?

Throttle position sensor... I haven't checked that specifically. Where is it located, and is it something I can test myself, or is it best left to a professional? Rough idling? Yes, sometimes it does feel a bit shaky.

Given the rough idling, it really does sound like a throttle position issue. Honestly, without the right tools, diagnosing it precisely is tricky. My advice? Find a reputable workshop. I ended up paying 205€ for the repair, which included replacing the accelerator pedal module. Saved me a lot of headaches in the long run.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take it to a workshop to get it checked. Knowing it might be the throttle position sensor helps a lot. Hopefully, the repair cost will be similar. Appreciate your help!
