Lexus RX low brake fluid

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2017 Lexus RX hybrid. The brake fluid level seems consistently low, and I've noticed strange feedback from the brake pedal. I've checked for any visible leaks in the brake lines, but everything appears to be in order. Could this be related to worn brakes? The car has around 204751 km on the clock.

Summary of the thread

The 2017 Lexus RX hybrid is experiencing consistently low brake fluid levels and unresponsive brake pedal feedback. Despite no visible leaks in the brake lines, the issue may be linked to worn brake pads, as worn pads can cause fluid levels to drop. Replacing the brake pads and topping up the fluid could resolve the problem, but a full brake system inspection at a workshop is recommended for safety.

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane a few years back. Low brake fluid and spongy brake pedal, the whole shebang. Did you check the brake pads themselves? Because with my car, the fluid level dropped as the pads wore down. Is the feedback from the brake pedal more like a vibration or just less responsive than usual?

Interesting. The feedback is more of a lack of responsiveness, almost like the pedal is softer than it should be. And yes, I did inspect the brake pads, and they do appear to be quite worn. So, if the worn pads are causing the issue, does that mean I just need to replace them and top up the fluid?

Yep, that was exactly what happened with my Megane! The worn pads were the culprit. Replacing them sorted the issue immediately. Though, I would suggest taking it to a workshop to have the brake system properly inspected, just to be on the safe side. Better safe than sorry when it comes to brakes!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's incredibly helpful to know that worn brake pads could be the cause. I'll definitely take your advice and have the entire brake system inspected at a reputable workshop. I just got the repair bill today and it cost me 480€. Thanks again!
