Lexus RX Overheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Lexus RX hybrid was experiencing overheating issues, suspected to be caused by a bypass valve malfunction. The problem was accompanied by power loss and reduced fuel efficiency. After consulting with another owner who had similar issues, it was advised to have the vehicle checked professionally. The workshop identified the overheating as a consequential error from another issue, and fixing the root cause resolved the bypass valve problem without additional cost.

Power loss, yes, I've noticed that sometimes, especially uphill. Fuel efficiency has taken a hit too. How did you deal with it? Did it turn out to be the bypass valve in your case?

Yep, those were the exact symptoms I had. Turned out to be related. Best to get it checked at a workshop. I wouldn't mess around with it myself, especially with the hybrid system involved.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – it was a consequential error. They fixed the root cause, and the bypass valve issue disappeared. Cost me nothing extra! Appreciate the help!

Interesting. I own an RX as well. Sounds a lot like what happened to me a while back. Was it accompanied by any engine stalling or power loss? What about fuel efficiency?
