Lexus RX Power Window Failure

My 2005 Lexus RX hybrid with only 63367 km needed a new vehicle battery, and now the power windows don't work at all. The error memory says it's a window regulator initialization fault. Could the battery replacement have caused this? Is there a reset procedure? Has anyone else had this?

Hey! Sounds frustrating. My 2012 Opel Astra had a similar problem after I disconnected the battery. The power windows died completely. I'm no expert, but did you try a 'window reset' procedure? Some cars need you to hold the window switch up after the window is fully closed. Did you check the fuses?

Fuses are fine, thanks. The 'window reset' procedure is interesting! Can you explain the steps? Any risks trying it? I want to be careful with the car's electronics.

Well, with my Astra, I held the 'up' button for maybe 10 seconds after the window was closed. That worked. But every car is different. I can't promise it'll work on your Lexus, and you don't want to mess anything up. If a simple reset doesn't work, the error message makes me think it's a real fault. I'd suggest a workshop reset the windows with diagnostic equipment.

Thanks! A local workshop diagnosed and fixed it. It was re-initializing the window regulators with diagnostic equipment, like you said. The repair cost 290€. Your faulty initialization idea was right!
