Lexus RX Sporadic Errors

I'm experiencing a perplexing issue with my 2011 Lexus RX hybrid. With only 57947 km, I'm getting sporadic errors in driving mode, with the error lamps illuminating erratically. Furthermore, various systems seem to be failing, mostly in the audio/navigation area. I've also experienced temporary shutdowns and unresponsive control units. An error scan revealed a stored error, but I'm struggling to pinpoint the root cause. Any insights?

These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the CAN bus system. Have you checked the cable connections to the control units? A defective connection could certainly cause these types of sporadic errors and system failures.

Thanks for your input! Could you elaborate on which specific control unit cable connections I should be inspecting? I'm reasonably competent with a multimeter, but a little direction would be appreciated.

Given the symptoms you describe, focus on the main ECU and any control units related to the affected systems – audio, navigation, and the hybrid drive system controller. However, diagnosing CAN bus issues without specialized tools can be challenging. Given the intermittent nature, I strongly recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnostic evaluation.

Thanks for the advice; I appreciate it. I took it to a shop, and you were spot on. It turned out to be a defective cable connection to the BUS system. The repair cost me 155€, which I think is acceptable. Everything is working fine now!
