Lexus SC AC Compressor Failure

My 2002 Lexus SC with a gasoline engine has a refrigerant compressor issue at 59551 km. I'm getting an error, complete loss of AC cooling, the system won't engage, and a warning light on the speedometer. Diagnostics point to a defective AC control unit. Anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar issue with my Lexus SC. The symptoms you describe are almost identical to what I experienced. Have you checked the refrigerant pressure? A low refrigerant level can sometimes trigger similar error codes and prevent the compressor from engaging. It might be worth investigating before assuming the control unit is faulty.

Thanks for the input. What were the specific refrigerant pressure readings you observed when the issue occurred? I have diagnostic tools and want to compare values to isolate the problem.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the exact pressure readings. However, the system was significantly undercharged. Considering the potential complexity of modern AC systems and the cost of components like the compressor, it may be a good idea to visit a workshop.

I took your advice and had the vehicle inspected by a workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective AC compressor. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to approximately 980€. Thanks for the guidance.
