Lexus SC engine oil temperature warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Lexus SC owner experienced an issue with the engine oil temperature warning light and suspected the engine oil temperature sensor as the cause. After checking the wiring and connectors, they leaned towards a defective cable or plug connection. Another owner with a similar problem confirmed that the sensor was the issue and recommended taking the car to a workshop. The problem was resolved by replacing the defective sensor, confirming the initial suspicion.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've only visually inspected the wiring and connectors so far. How did you eventually resolve your issue? Was it definitely the sensor, and if so, was it difficult to replace?

Well, after checking the same things you did, I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They confirmed it was the sensor. I'd suggest doing the same, as it could save you some time and potential headaches.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to my mechanic, and you were right. It was the engine oil temperature sensor. Cable or plug connection of the component was defective. Repair cost me 95€ Thanks again!

Hey, I also own an SC and I had a similar problem a while back. The oil gauge was acting up and the temp sensor seemed to be the culprit. Have you checked the sensor itself, or just the wiring?
