Lexus SC Overheating and Communication Errors
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Lexus SC is experiencing overheating, coolant leakage, and a check engine light, possibly due to a communication fault. Diagnostic trouble codes indicate communication errors, suggesting a defective cable or plug connection affecting sensor readings. A thorough inspection of the wiring harness and connectors is recommended, and a visit to a qualified workshop is advised. The issue was resolved by fixing a corroded connector, costing 95€.

Yes! Sorry, forgot to mention that. It is showing some communication errors, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Any ideas?

Given the communication fault codes and the range of symptoms, the most likely culprit is a defective cable or plug connection affecting component communication. A thorough inspection of the wiring harness and connectors related to the engine management system is necessary. Due to the complexity of the system, I would strongly recommend a visit to a qualified workshop.

Right you are! Turns out it was exactly as you suspected – a corroded connector causing all sorts of havoc. The workshop tracked it down and fixed it for a grand total of 95€. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction, I really appreciate it!

Overheating, coolant spill, AND a check engine light? That sounds like a serious connectivity issue. Have you scanned for any diagnostic trouble codes? A communication fault could definitely cause those symptoms, especially if it's affecting sensor readings. Is your scanner showing any specific module communication errors?
