Lexus SC System Readiness Check Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Lexus SC owner experienced an issue where the system readiness check wouldn't complete after using an OBD2 scanner, leading to an error message on the speedometer. This problem could be due to the car's internal checks not being fully completed after the scan. The suggested solution was to reset the car's computer, which was successfully done by inspection personnel, resolving the issue without any cost.

Resetting the computer, huh? Is that something I can do myself, or does it require special equipment? And what do you mean exactly by "OBD readiness"?

On the Saab, I had to take it to a workshop. I believe OBD readiness refers to the car's internal checks being fully completed after a scan or reset. If the system readiness check is incomplete, it won't pass inspection.

Thanks! Turns out it was a simple computer reset during the diagnostics that messed it up. The vehicle inspection guys just cleared the error memory, did a quick reset themselves and all was fine again. Cost me nothing!

I had a similar problem with my old Saab. Different brand, I know, but the issue sounds familiar. After scanning, the "OBD readiness" was not set. Have you tried resetting the computer?
